Web Developer I

The University of Southern California is seeking a Web Developer to join its Office of Cultural Relations and University Events team. This role involves designing, building, testing, deploying, and maintaining web sites and applications, while also providing IT support and troubleshooting. Responsibilities: Work with the Web and Systems Manager to design, build and maintain web projects; Assist in testing, debugging and deploying web applications; Develop and provide ongoing support for customized reservation web sites to include event and multi-level ticketed pages; Rebuild legacy department web sites and web applications on modern platforms and frameworks; Support departmental staff by troubleshooting and fixing IT related issues; Assist in maintaining hardware inventory for CRUE check-in events; Assist department with event staffing and manage and direct student coordinators as needed; Provide after-hours support on an as needed basis to resolve urgent support requests in a timely manner Qualifications: Strong understanding of backend programming languages like PHP, Python and Node.js; Experience with JavaScript and frontend JavaScript frameworks (Vue.js or React.js Required Skills: Backend programming languages - PHP, Backend programming languages - Python, Backend programming languages - Node.js, Frontend JavaScript frameworks - Vue.js, Frontend JavaScript frameworks - React.js, JavaScript, Relational databases - MySQL, Relational databases - PostgreSQL, HTML5, CSS3, Amazon Web Services, Linux server environments, API development - REST, API development - GraphQL, Git, Version control, WordPress, Object-oriented development, Database driven design, Service-oriented architecture, Software development lifecycle, IT troubleshooting, Adobe Creative Cloud, Microsoft Office, Communication, Attention to detail, Ability to work under tight deadlines, Ability to work independently
