Senior Software Engineer I

Waystar is a healthcare technology company that simplifies healthcare payments and improves financials for providers. The Senior Software Engineer will join a team of full stack engineers to build and maintain web applications, upgrade legacy systems, and mentor junior engineers while adhering to agile development practices. Responsibilities: Join a team of full stack engineers to build new features for web applications, as well as support and maintain them; Move up and down the software stack, writing client-side JavaScript, HTML, and CSS, server-side PHP and SQL statements for the products released; Collaborate with Product, UX and other engineering teams to solve difficult problems and design new features; Scope out technical designs that enable the team to execute on proposed solutions; Upgrade legacy apps and code to modern frameworks and technologies; Mentor junior engineers and promote a culture of learning and teaching; Embrace an agile development process that emphasizes test automation, code reviews, and fast release cycles; Communicate effectively and justify opinions regarding technical decisions Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field Required Skills: Full stack web development, Object-oriented programming, PHP, Relational databases, MySQL, Modern JavaScript frameworks, Vue.js, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, MVC frameworks, Unit testing, Integration testing, Distributed system architecture, Asynchronous processing, AWS SQS, Automated production logging, Monitoring, Alerting, Agile development
